Organics at The Spa
Most of you have probably noticed the trend towards organics in marketing and the media. Product packaging now boldly sports claims of "natural" this and "organic" that. It's great that consumers are creating this demand! The Spa ~ Los Gatos and the spa industry as a whole have been behind this healthy standpoint for many years - way before the marketing gurus caught wind of it. Our goal is to provide health, wellness and beauty from within. Wholesome, natural ingredients are often the best way to get there.

The most common question we get about totally organic products is: "Is the product powerful enough to get the results I want?" The answer is yes. We are very proud to carry the DNA Organics line from the DNA Health Institute based in Ventura, California. This heavily researched and ethically developed line is like no other.

This is a powerful line that is completely organic and has proven results in skin repair and visually improving the signs of aging. Color - Thinking about it or already there?
Color requires maintenance and if you are not able to maintain your choice, you should use one that is close to your natural color to reduce the appearance of color grow out. It's important to keep hair in tiptop shape when coloring, highlighting or straightening hair. Damaged hair will not hold or color well - you'll end up with more of a synthetic look. Kérastase Age Recharge conditioner and Bain De Force shampoo will strengthen and fortify the hair evening out the porosity. This will ensure an even color. Injection de Force is a take home treatment that protects and strengthens the hair.

More great Kérastase products for color treated hair can be found in the Reflection and Soleil lines. Both lines provide UV protection and even out the hair from root to end, ensuring brilliant color. For a little more moisture, a sure bet is the Soleil line. It contains Pro-vitamin B5 (it nurtures damaged hair giving the hair a smooth supple finish.)

Keep color treated hair looking healthy by getting deep treatments; they add shine and are a great way to maintain colored hair.

Try to avoid over heating the hair by over styling it. In the salon I see a lot of clients who over do it with the flat iron and the hot blow dryer. All types of hair, including virgin and grey hair, can look dry and frizzy if you are over styling. Protect the hair before you style it with the Kérastase Vernis Nutri-Sculpt, a light crème that will give your hair a light hold with tons of shine.

If you are going to go lighter for summer, you really need to protect the hair. Voile Protector is a great defense against the drying sun and the harmful effects of UV rays. It's an ultra light invisible mist that shields the hair; you can spray it on wet or dry hair.

This August, we're going tropical!

We'll give you all the delightful details next issue, but we're so excited about our tropical theme for August that we just have to let you know ahead of time!

For the month of August, The Spa is changing its attitude as we go from European to the tropical! Our decor with be covered with flowers and scented with the tropics. We'll have a special facial, body treatment and massage designed to take you away to where the ocean breezes dance!
